This section of www.thecandodiet.com is all about discovering and overcoming the hidden obstacles that block you from losing any weight or prompt plateaus that cause your weight loss to stall or stop. You are probably here because you’ve purchased a copy of the book Dr. Colbert’s “I Can Do This” Diet and want more information about the hidden roadblocks to weight loss I describe in the closing section of the book.
What’s Stopping You From Losing Weight? Take the Test and Find Out
I have a good friend who is fanatical about snow skiing. His is not a normal passion that simply enjoys the occasional leisurely trip down a well-groomed slope, however. No, my friend is more passionate about the adrenaline rush that comes from zipping down a mountain as fast as possible. Although he’s tried some of the greatest slopes this country has to offer—from Colorado’s Vail to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, to the lesser-known Alta in Utah—my friend is still on the search for one thing. He wants to find a trail that goes on for miles with no plateaus. If he had his way, every ski slope would be Everest-like in its height and allow extremists to descend from 29,000 feet to sea level with no interruptions.
Many dieters expect the same kind of free fall after a certain amount of time on a weight-loss program. Things are going along well, and suddenly they hit the dreaded plateau.
First of all, let me encourage you, as I did in the book, that I have yet to meet a person who is trying to lose a significant amount of weight who has not hit a plateau at some point. It is perfectly normal to be discouraged, but try to remember that this happens to almost everyone.
And the really good news? Your story doesn’t have to end here.
As you’ll discover through the following questionnaires and the corresponding information I’ve provided on this Web site, there are several hidden sources of weight-loss plateaus, and there are ways you can overcome them. You can do this! I encourage you to take every questionnaire that follows since there may be more than one weight-loss saboteur for you to tackle. You don’t have to complete them all at once. You can fill out as many questionnaires as time allows and then come back to this site for several more visits and complete a few questionnaires each time.
Before you get started, I want to tell you that even though these questionnaires may reveal to you that you have many of the symptoms of a particular disorder, a lab test is more definitive than the results of a questionnaire. Therefore I encourage you to follow up with a knowledgeable physician for the appropriate lab tests. (Click here for more information.) These tools are provided to arm you with new knowledge about your health, but they are not intended to replace the advice of your doctor. Never, never make changes to your diet, medications, or exercise routines without consulting a health-care professional.
Now, it’s time to get started. After completing each questionnaire, you will be directed to another page of this Web site that provides you with immediate feedback based on your answers and more advice from me that addresses your specific roadblocks.
All set? Great! Click on any questionnaire below and take the first step to conquering your weight-loss challenges.
